What are the crouching position and genital display all about?
The earliest display is probably saying,
"Look, out of here comes babies." To this was added magic. We don't know why. We can hypothesize that this was because, until very recently, childbirth was a dangerous act. Women died. Infants died. If you add a little magic to it, asking the deities for help, maybe it will be successful.

same. I think Americans overestimate her global presence & reach. Her fandom is very engaged & vocal, but it’s not cross cultural nor does it cross many demographics. if she ever has a global world cup anthem or album in a different language, I’d reconsider. I'm effectively Buddhist, w/ most of my practice in US Zen communities. Currently writing about Plotinus I'm intrigued at how he speaks of Nous (//"divine mind," incl the Platonic Ideas) as "all faces."

In a retreat last week a phrase I found interesting arose for me:

"Time is one of God's faces."
