There are last minute tickets available for Ella and Friends - a celebration of the First Lady of Song, Ella Fitzgerald - on Friday 31 October. This elegant cabaret-style performance brings the songs to life in the stunning surroundings of the Cathedral.

🎶 What a fantastic day! 🎶

Huge smiles after Bury Bach Choir’s Come and Sing workshop today — and what a sound we made in a few short hours! Over 100 wonderful singers joined us to bring Bach’s Christmas Oratorio: Part 3, to life-filling the hall with joy, energy and glorious music.

Currently enjoying a large Negroni, with Strictly burbling on and hubby cooking dinner. Had a fabulous day in Chichester (can't believe I've not visited before) & loved learning Taverner and Part with @HarryBradford as part of the @TheSixteen choral pilgrimage.

I just finished writing up my latest cushion design. It's part of a marine life set I'm working on. As ever I added an "Easter egg" quote on the reverse for visitors to discover. I hope you like it!

Today marks 10 years since the death of Sir David Willcocks.

John Rutter writes:
Sir David Willcocks transformed my life. I am just one of innumerable musicians who owe their careers to his example, his encouragement, and his support. I still miss him.

Family is critical to prisoners’ rehabilitation; those who receive family visits are 39% less likely to reoffend compared to those who don’t.

Our in-prison choir programmes help provide a vital sense of family to our attendees. Read more about the other work we do: libertychoir.org

C18 and C19 music people - fascinating references to music (unknown to me) in this lovely letter from Euphemia Toussaint. She would have been c. 13 yrs old (and died the following year).
She is pleased to have Telemaque’s overture (Destouches?) & is now practising ‘The White Lady’
Euphemia Toussaint was freed by her uncle, Pierre Toussaint, a formerly enslaved man from Haiti who became a very successful entrepreneur & philanthropist in New York. She wrote him weekly letters in English & French. This one is from June 20, 1828.
