Taylor Swift saying that Ophelia was “driven mad by love” fills me with an incandescent rage.

It was SO GOOD. I listened to it on my morning run and I laughed so hard I got a side stitch

I fear every passing day I find fewer redeeming qualities of TLOAS. Trying not to be a full time hater but… it’s just bad.

No one on letterboxd had made a comment about this part 😭 genuinely my second favorite part of the interview.

Impact >>>> intent

There are a half dozen truly troubling lines in this album that cannot be divorced from the context of the political moment or racialized use of those phrases/words.

“It’s not that deep” isn’t it though? Is a master lyricist not supposed to be deliberate with her words?

the last words interview was so funny bc it was very serious about her final message of avoiding apathy but then she would sprinkle moments of humor in like this list or her discussion of her husbands. Marriages of practicality and she is indifferent to seeing them in the afterlife?! JANE! You icon

jane goodall releasing a video of her listing the people she dislikes and ending with a vague message of hope is so iconic. truly someone i aspire to model myself after

Dr. Jane Goodall filmed an interview with Netflix in March 2025 that she understood would only be released after her death.

we live in a cursed timeline because what is this?!? And yes, I read the article, which is barely even about her style choices. What she wore was the standard fieldwork apparel of the day. The only style choice that was atypical (high top converse in the field) WAS NOT EVEN MENTIONED!

Context on President Beilock: She proudly declined to stand in solidarity with other universities under attack by Trump, citing the new (2024) "institutional restraint" policy. And hired a RNC ideologue as General Counsel who pretends there exists a good faith debate about birthright citizenship.

Colleagues have pointed out that the Dartmouth response is strategically ambiguous. If I were faculty or alumni, I would provide feedback that: 1) you interpret this to mean that the unviersity is refusing to sign a corrupt contract; and 2) you are proud of the university for taking that stance.
laurarpetto.bsky.social
Given Dartmouth’s actions over the past nine months, I think it is purposefully ambiguous. Beilock has gone to DC multiple times to meet with people from the admin, and the college has emphasized their connection within the admin w/ ppl like Harmeet Dhillon wrt avoiding funding cuts

Watching everyone congratulate this when it’s traditional Beilock speak is weird. This absolutely leave room for further negotiation.

If you are a Dartmouth alum, faculty, staff or student please email [email protected] and ask for clarification. This is NOT a firm rejection of Trump’s offer.

Also don’t forget Matt Raymer, former RNC lawyer and Trump supporter, is the general counsel.

I’m with you. I think this is a soft no, sent before our board of trustees meet today and tomorrow.

Some of my fellow alums and I were discussing this letter last night - we think it’s implying a no but odd that she doesn’t outright announce a decision. She’s careful with her words and the presence of some ambiguity in this letter is notable, especially given the BOT meeting is this weekend.

I think the US would be in a much better place today if everyone grew up listening to Raffi music and watching Studio Ghibli films.

Jane Goodall recorded a final interview only to be released after her death and I’m absolutely bawling. Must watch.

Long week. For the weekend, here's something Jane Goodall told me in 2015:

"Too often we're told, 'think globally, act locally.' If you think too long globally, you become depressed. But twist it around, you act locally and see what you and your friends can do to make a difference."
