A new blood test could revolutionise the way coeliac disease is diagnosed after detecting the condition in patients, even when they weren’t eating gluten.

We found that patients with dominant negative IFN-γ deficiency show prolonged cell surface retention of IFN-γ bound to the truncated IFN-γ receptor. This broad sequestering of IFN-γ has the potential to reduce systemic IFN-γ bioavailability in affected patients.
