This is amazing. Harvard has amassed a 16TB collection covering more than 311K datasets and a complete archive of federal public datasets linked by data.gov - with ongoing updates. lil.law.harvard.edu/blog/2025/02...

Thinking about the good people of @noaa and @nws today. Such a dark day for our nation and our safety.

Black History Month Stories.

Today we stick with our "women running mail" theme from yesterday's story and celebrate the first Black woman to make officer in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps who went on to command an all-black postal battalion overseas.

This is the story of Charity Adams Earley.

So one of the things that I think is lost on AI proponents is what I call the card catalog effect, a thing I shouldn’t call it because a lot of people probably have no experience with a card catalog.

Sigh.

1. There’s always been a place to do that. They’re called “libraries.”

2. Plenty of people still don’t have great access to internet or computers.

3. LLMs were not made to educate people, but rather to steal people’s work and livelihoods.

4. They’re wrong a LOT.

Does anyone have any tips or guides for the average citizen to help save online info before it's wiped or altered?

1000% this. Public libraries are actually pretty radical--free to all, and based on the idea that info should be available to all. Get a library card! Use your library! Those numbers often play into their funding.
I also keep thinking that we have to support our libraries.

Good morning! This is your reminder to support your local library! Get your card and see what resources you have access to from programs and events to seed libraries, maker spaces and digital resources. Libraries are more than *just* books. (Although books are very lovely!)
