It’s really unsettling to not know to what extent it was used. Were character designs spat out by AI? What about Lumiere itself? Was that design something AI came up with and they simply iterated on? It’s insane to not know.

I don’t think people are solely focussing on that, I mean it won’t 10 awards at TGA, it’s been lauded as one of the best games there is and this doesn’t change that. But I think given what’s come to light a heavy pushback against it can only be a good thing.

It’s easy to shrug and roll your eyes when Ubisoft uses AI, because of course the slop company wants to make slop, but seeing games I thought were artistically beautiful be helmed by people who see AI as a viable future for gaming is really sad.

The remake is in partnership with another studio but I’ve gotta assume catalyst won’t somehow be totally different, they’ve gotta be built off the same basis.

Its too early to say if we're back or not, but the trailer was really cool, and from the brief gameplay we see in the Atlantis trailer, which you have to assume is what Catalyst will look like... it's very solid.

It really feels like we’re entering a renaissance for gaming in general, just feels like things are shifting toward more passionate devs and away from major publishers that chase mass appeal… or maybe I’ve just stopped playing trash 🤷🏻‍♂️
