The “suggested” OOO language sent via the Chief Human Capital Officer of SBA goes on: “Every day that Senate Democrats continue oppose a clean funding bill, they are stopping an estimated 320 small businesses from accessing $170 million in SBA-guaranteed funding.”

Furloughed SBA employees were sent similar email, suggesting they blame Dems in their out-of-office reply, per an email obtained by MSNBC

“I am out of office for the foreseeable future because Senate Democrats voted to block a clean federal funding bill…” SBA advised employees to say

Wild stuff. Furloughed employees within HHS got an email this morning telling them to set an out-of-office reply blaming Democrats for the shutdown.

"I take that email as coercing subordinates to engage in political activity," one worker told me.

In 2016, when Trump made racist comments that Judge Gonzalo Curiel couldn’t do his job because of his Mexican heritage, then Speaker Paul Ryan called it “the textbook definition of a racist comment”

Multiple fed employees tell me they think it’s a Hatch Act violation

Some are also waiting on lists of who will be furloughed. Typically, sources said, those are lists they’d have by now

New w/ @alivitali.bsky.social: SSA, SBA, HHS, and other fed employees all got same message from their agencies blaming Democrats for looming shutdown:
"..Any lapse in appropriations forced by Congressional Democrats.."

"Unfortunately, Democrats are blocking this Continuing Resolution..."

“ABC and CBS are making a serious miscalculation. Their servility to Trump will not earn them peace, only greater pressure.”

That’s the German professional association of journalists, @djv.de, calling on major US media to support their journalists instead of preemptively silencing them.

ICE said one of countries Abrego claims removal fear of is Costa Rica. But in filing to reopen Abrego’s immigration case, first reported by MSNBC last week, Abrego’s lawyers sought to designate Costa Rica as country of removal bc CR offered refugee status/assurances not to deport him to El Salvador
lbarronlopez.bsky.social
"We hereby notify you that your new country of removal is Eswatini, Africa,” ICE’s principal legal advisor Charles Wall wrote to Abrego’s lawyers

ICE said Abrego has claimed he fears persecution or torture in "at least 22 different countries.” Abrego’s lawyers didn’t dispute fear of removal claims

New: ICE notified Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s lawyers today that the Trump admin now plans to deport him to Eswatini, Africa, according to an email ICE sent to Abrego’s counsel that MSNBC obtained.

ICE says Abrego’s fear claim that he’d be persecuted and tortured in Uganda “is hard to take seriously”

ACLU’s Sophia Gregg said DHS' denial “conflicts with the information provided to ACLU-VA from an ICE officer” at Chantilly. ACLU "heard directly from people there" & families that ppl are "only provided 1 meal per day, no showers" & there are "hot temperatures" in holding rooms & "illness spreading”
lbarronlopez.bsky.social
DHS denied accounts from attorneys. A senior DHS official said no detainees are staying at Chantilly "for seven days or over the legal limit." They said Chantilly is at 37% capacity, "nowhere near maximum capacity," ppl are getting 3 meals a day, showers, legal representation

Chantilly is a main processing facility for those arrested by ICE during Trump's DC crackdown. ACLU attorney Sophia Gregg told @msnbc.com: Conditions are "rapidly degenerating" & "ICE is holding up to 80 people in a single room for more than a week at a time" w/no access to lawyers
