He doesn’t think things through. I suspect it reflects his own frustration with his options, and an instinctive reach for tariffs. I’m guessing Steve Miller was instrumental.

Greenland was Trump’s idea. I suspect Miller was in the office today.

If Congress and courts go along with this you are right but at the moment we are reacting to a post on social media.

Ha. I’ll do full penance if I’m wrong.

Yep

He is a bully and doesn’t like to be resisted. But he also doesn’t like to be seen to fail.

Its Trump, Vance and Miller. Very little support in Congress.
January 17, 2026 at 9:12 PM
No. I don’t think these tariffs will be implemented because of the pushback.
January 17, 2026 at 9:08 PM
Quite possible. It should give some urgency to getting out their ruling.

We have had quick and appropriate responses from E3 and others saying they can’t and won’t hand over Greenland. So we already know coercion of this sort won’t work. The next step is for EU and UK to start working out forms of retaliation if he does go ahead - but I wouldn’t assume he will.

He said he was running Venezuela and he isn’t. He said he was going to take military action against Iran and he didn’t. He was going to take Greenland by force and he can see why that might look bad. So now he bullies. He doesn’t have an indomitable will.
January 17, 2026 at 8:48 PM
I think you’ll find Stephen Miller was in office today.
January 17, 2026 at 8:17 PM
I agree. I’m saying push back and not assume done deal.

Not counting on anything - but in hearings they were sceptical. Could pronounce on Tuesday

We should take it seriously and push back. Not assume that it is now fixed. His tariffs policy has been all over the place.

As it says £ or free trial.
