Every time I check the news, I’m reminded of this quote from Futurama:
Today I found out my developmentally disabled child has learned some new self care skills! He knows of his shoes are on the wrong feet now and fixes them AND will rub his hands together when I put sanitizer on them. This sounds like nothing but for us, it’s a big thing!!

There was a ig account I used to follow with a totally normal to thin sized woman hitting perimenopause. She wanted to grow her greys out. Randomly saw a video on her feed of her wanting to put some temporary color back in bc it was fun and won’t wreck her growth. That was from October.

Seriously starting out the year right with my family, who are all being weird af. The little one has a loose tooth that he has been working for a straight month so he has an excuse. Husband and child 1 are acting like two aggressive polar bears right now

It’s like he tries but gets everything five shades off and it’s getting hard to be gracious. Example: goes out to buy me very specific apples for a pie and gets the wrong apples. I made the pie anyway and it tasted like garbage.

My husband, every new years morning: I know your dad used to make new years morning special. I should have bought stuff for a nice breakfast.
Every New Year’s Day. I’m actually still full from Christmas but come on. Put a note in your phone, dude

I feel kind of sad. I always hate when the magic of Christmas ends (even if I’m often stressed by the creating of said magic) and sometimes I just get to melancholy thinking

@jeremyhammett.bsky.social i truly am sorry people say this shit. I’m of a never leave a man behind mentality. I will continue to call people out when I get this kind of thing.

You know who was fun to teach? Millennials. I’m a very late gen x almost a xennial (77) and started teaching very young. They kept telling us to focus on grit and rigor but also admonished to show grace and its mess now. It’s wild how much I’ve had to excise from the curriculum

My husband is currently snoring so loudly that I can hear him through ear plugs and headphones and a blanket wrapped around my head. I don’t know what to do but he’s going to need to put a bed in his office bc I can’t sleep like this

If the internet has done nothing else for me, it has meant that i don’t have to balance my check book or remember to pay bills AND it has taught me that I am not alone in finding Disney’s Robinhood Fox extremely attractive

Autism family—my boys cannot possibly get their vaccines in a cvs or similar. First, I couldn’t get one of them into a cvs as he has a limited range of places he will go. The other one needs to be held down to do any bloodwork, especially after his recent hospitalization.

I’m trying not to think about it but goddamnit I don’t want to go back to work in a week. I wish I didn’t need health insurance.

Look, I’m not saying I spent a stupid amount of money to purchase a 1989 Pleasant Hill Co. American Girls catalog so I could feel things but I’m not saying I didn’t.

GIRL. Look what I found!! I don’t have a cassette player but I remember this tape that I recorded off the radio in 1995 or so

I really enjoyed There’s Something in the Barn. It was goofy and fun and had good Christmas vibes.

Nothing is fair. And things don’t happen “for a reason”…they just are and you can make peace with that, in whatever way you can, if you are lucky.

I’m trying to reframe this garbage can mentality so that tomorrow maybe we can have a nice day. I’m almost positive that we cannot go to grandmas in this way next year. No one enjoys it. We are all unhappy. The boys love their grandma but it really is just so stressful to do this.

Literally the worst Christmas I’ve ever had :(
December 25, 2025 at 11:30 PM
I don’t think anyone normal is actually buying all new Christmas decor and chucking the old every year. I think this is a myth “de-influencers” perpetuate to come up w/content and make themselves feel more saintly.

My weakness is Jonerys winter holiday in modern Westeros fan fics where Jon is a single dad. Sue me.

Animal crossing question: I have the switch not switch 2. Can I still access the new stuff in January?
December 22, 2025 at 4:49 PM
Ew what if Animal Crossing comes out with a new game and its art is completely ai generated?
