Wild, native plants growing in rivers are not litter and don't need to be 'cleaned'.

After farm pollution, digging up rivers is the biggest reason for poor health of rivers in Ireland.

Ireland's natural environment in very poor condition, says the EU.

'Water quality is also assessed as “poor”...

Agriculture, forestry, urban sewage discharges and artificial interference with water flows and riverbanks are the main pressures it cites.'

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability & quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

Ivy is buzzing, literally, with bees, hoverflies, wasps, and butterflies at this time of year.
It provides vital late autumn pollen and nectar to vast numbers of insects.
Its berries are vital for birds in the depths of winter.
Ivy is amazing. Preserve it.

Localised severe flooding is going to become more frequent.
It won't be possible to protect everywhere using current 'drainage' methods.
Whole catchment and upstream storage is the most effective and cost efficient way to achieve this.

‘Biblical’ downpour leaves seven Tipperary homes under water
A “downpour of biblical proportions” led to the flooding of several Tipperary homes over the summer.

It happened again.
Glashaboy flood relief scheme in Glanmire cost overrun is 316%
From €12m budget to €38m cost.
This is typical for OPW FRS works.
Upstream storage would have been a fraction of this, less than €5m.
Now multiply this by hundreds of projects.

Concern that cost of Glanmire flood work could impact other Cork relief schemes
In 2012, a severe flood caused tens of millions of euro worth of damage to 82 homes and 30 businesses in Glanmire and Sallybrook.

Government underinvestment in nature is not just neglect. It’s a slow death for the land and waters we love and the rejection of any potential nature restoration.

Ciarán Brennan of the Irish Environmental Network poses many important questions here.
Nature is worryingly absent from the National Development Plan review
It is imperative that nature is adequately funded, writes Ciarán Brennan, communications officer at the Irish Environmental Network

What about the 10,000 hostages that Israel holds and tortures?
Meanwhile they starve an entire population and murder civilians including women and children trying to get the meagre aid offered at death traps disguised as the euphemistic 'GHF'
Its like 'Albrecht Macht Frei'

End the double standards

Two dozen are dead in the resulting floods and another 20 young campers still missing.

This is suicide.
Polar ice is needed to keep the globe habitable.
Accelerating its destruction with ice breakers and even more fossil fuel is madness.

Ocean around Antarctica is rapidly getting saltier, drawing up heat from the deep ocean and making it harder for sea ice to regrow
Less sea ice releases more heat into atmosphere, increasing number and intensity of storms and accelerating global warming

‘Completely unexpected’: Antarctic sea ice may be in terminal decline due to rising Southern Ocean salinity
Scientists once thought Antarctica might hold onto its sea ice as the world warmed. No longer.
