New discovery some of VFX packages that are super useful but have a lot of dependencies and scary to compile have vcpkg: vcpkg.io/en/ which make it easy! Compiling openImageIO took me 10 mins yesterday!

One of things always fascinated me how some languages have terms for things and others don’t. For example English does not have translator (good) translation for concept of “clair obscure” while Polish does: “światłocień”. Also here is cover of Lumière in Polish:

My point exactly 😅 also a lot of specific things that I end up doing in terminal require me either compiling something on windows or installing random close source software
I like that whenever I complain about something annoying in WIndows, there's always someone telling me you can disable the thing by doing a dozen of registry and group policy edits and at this point it's actually Linux that requires less tinkering to run properly.

Omniverse GUI pattern of using “with” for scoping is best example of why using clever patterns in programming is bad and it’s better to use simpler solution. Starting to miss QT 😐
