It’s so frustrating - as someone who went through a sudden and extreme bout of insomnia 3 years ago - to see threads from people who are suffering and read all the things people are recommending. Magnesium. Valerian root. Are you staying active? Getting outside? What’s your caffeine intake? 😖

In the late 90s I got my lip pierced while it was still an outlandish thing to do in a small market town a few weeks later I got punched in the mouth and had to go to A&E to have the ring removed as my lip had swollen up around it

As a person who works in comms, I am baffled by people who don’t just…say what they mean. Not people who beat around the bush. I mean using cryptic phrases like “jam on some followups” or “calendar rollups.” I’m not shy about asking for clarification, but just say what you mean the 1st time

I have to say, my ability to buckle down and get shit done when I’m wildly unprepared for something - say, an art market I’m participating in tomorrow - is pretty astounding. I’m in a much better place than I was an hour ago.

So my teens have been using the phrase “out of pocket” wrongly to mean random or wild, and I keep correcting them, BUT then I heard a 20-something coworker use it the same way today, and apparently it really is something the youths are saying.
