Wife no longer a fed.

I mute my threads when they hit the discover feed.

I do a lot of stream of conscious posting.

Fuck Sam Alito.

Intro post.

I'm a lawyer. My areas of law are not super interesting to a general audience so I don't post about them much. This is not my real name, anymore, because my wife is a fed and I don't want her to be purged. I am a lifelong metro Detroiter. Michigan is great, hands off our lakes.

Oh yeah, definitely not going to completely kill the industry, but will reduce the demand and change some biz models as it will be limited to those simpler maintenance items. Thinking about like repair shops connected to gas stations etc. And major jobs for dealer service departments
leonenglish.bsky.social
My understanding is there are fewer parts that are likely to fail and require expensive, labor intensive repairs and replacements as well with the simpler engines, e.g. (some?) belts.
leonenglish.bsky.social
Hm, interesting. I knew that about Tesla's, didn't know it was the case generally.

Was thinking about this idly during the pandemic, what the transition to EVs is going to do to the auto service industry. The Pep Boys etc of the world. Obviously still going to be some servicing needs, but significantly less.
leonenglish.bsky.social
Maybe all of it, save being largely owned by reactionary conservatives.
leonenglish.bsky.social
This is part of why dealerships kind of hate them, right?

i’d say the real killer feature of EVs is basically the lack of real maintenance costs.

Chinese English language media is doing a thing where they describe every decently sized city as cyberpunk because of the neon, so I guess they've got it covered

I wonder if doing this in Chicago is making Leo even more eager to weigh in.

Would put money on getting at least one instance of the admin arguing in court that calling them in to testify is unconstitutional harassment that violates the separation of powers by taking up the admins time.
leonenglish.bsky.social
I think people kind of overrate how worried the admin is about the possibility of getting hauled in for hearings from a Dem controlled congress for this reason. They just see it as an opportunity to grandstand.

Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

<general contractor slapping a rotting post> Well, there’s your problem right there. Whoever built this thing used Marbury v. Madison as a foundation. You’re lucky it lasted as long as it did.

The masks have to go. These Nazis feel completely immune from consequences.

I don't see anything about not dipping a toe in though

Has Wurman written yet about how the law saying feds get backpay after a shutdown doesn't say feds get backpay after a shutdown? Or is it still forthcoming?

“At first glance, Skrmetti and Chiles seem logically inconsistent: Medical uncertainty confers authority here, yet restricts it there. There is, though, an internal consistency: For the Supreme Court, right-wing reactionaries should always win.” There it is, courtesy of @audrelawdamercy.bsky.social

People are really leaning into "Consequences followed immediately after" or w/e was just normal alt text, huh

Anyway, we're coming up on 15 years, guess the fengshui was decent.
leonenglish.bsky.social
I knew my wife's grandmother wanted to go with a date on her little calendar of auspicious days, but I did not realize she'd been overruled by the fengshui uncle.
leonenglish.bsky.social
Today I learned our wedding ceremony date was selected by a fengshui master in the family.

And tbc this is not me saying a shutdown was wrong, because there's also no reason to believe the white house will actually spend anything that Dems manage to get in a deal. Our government has basically broken down idk.
leonenglish.bsky.social
Not that SCOTUS has or necessarily will bless using the tariff revenue as a slush fund, I'm just... Not optimistic
leonenglish.bsky.social
This was one of the risks of the shutdown, that Trump would basically just ignore the law and keep paying for shit he decides he wants to fund. Really dunno what you can do with a president who just voids the constitution and a SCOTUS that blesses it.

I, uh, am very glad I don't have to fly anytime in the immediate future.

‘Flights could take off and land but had to follow procedures typically used at small airports without control towers’

Pilots are just flashing each other hand signals now?
