Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.

(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

A someone who has written extensively about the eugenic roots that permeates those who claim to be building so-called artificial general intelligence, I'm here to tell you to please NOT compare criticism against corporations claiming to build a machine god, with eugenics. The audacity.

if you're writing a sentence that sounds like eugenics but you go "oh that's fine to say because it's not a real person" (whatever that means) you may want to consider what made you okay with saying that.

Between using a 30+ year old photo to fabricate an excuse for fascists illegally mobilizing the military against civilians and disingenuously framing inhalers as more of an environmental threat than cars, @cnn.com is really leaning into cynical, damaging propaganda today, huh?

The headline here is “Climate pollution from inhalers has the impact of half a million cars per year.” 28 million USians have asthma. That means, one asthmatic person puts off as much pollution as 1/60th of a driver. There are about 275 million commuter cars on the road. A tiny increase in remote work would dwarf the emissions of every single inhaler in the country, but the editorial arsonists at CNN would rather create a sensational headline that downplays real climate risks and blames the victims of nihilistic environmental policy
