Was asked to make a scarf, and decided to try fisherman's rib. I love the feel of it in super chunky (3 x DK) it's sooner squishy! Luckily it knits up quick as I imagine there will be days when it's too hot to have it on my lap (when it gets that long)

Trying to work out which Supreme Court is being talked about in posts is not as simple as it should be

Happy Father's Day Dad. Missing you, you would be 83 now. I wonder how life would have worked out for you had that boy not killed you in 2001 xx

A petition on change.org for cis women to sign to show that what's happening to the trans community is not in their name www.change.org/p/not-in-our...

Reading the EHRC consultation on the Supreme Court decision I realised that they are saying that a lesbian couple is heterosexual if one of them is trans, and if a straight man takes up with a trans women, that's a homosexual relationship. What twisted world is this?

Just out! Our peer-reviewed critique of the Cass Review has been published by BMC Medical Research Methodology. Please read and share. We show that the Cass Review is fatally flawed and should not be the basis for policy or practice in transgender healthcare.

This seems wonderfully sensible, re the bizarre new loo and changing room 'policing' suggestions from various organisations and Politicians in the UK.

'Miriam was tired of womanhood. She wanted simply to experience life as an anonymous human being of flesh and blood. She was tired of having to adjust to other people's ideas of what a woman should be.'

The Greens now have nearly 200 more councillors than Reform.

This is not something you'd be likely to guess from all the copiously salivating media coverage of Farage & his crew of billionaire-backed far-right chancers.
Another record year for the Green Party 👏
859 Councillors on 170 Councils in England & Wales

Trump and his followers revel in declaring "There's only two genders!" but the truth is we are far more complex beings than that. Time to go beyond the binary.
Beyond XX & XY—Human Sex And Gender Were Never A Simple Binary

The correct argument for transition is also the correct argument for abortion - Bodily autonomy is THE right that must be protected at all times, even when it requires the services of healthcare professionals, and protecting bodily autonomy does not require a diagnosis of an illness.

Anything but the most expansive definition of 'woman' hurts all women. A narrow definition means the boundaries now have to be defended. Cue vigilante 'border guards' popping up in every public loo, changing room, gym... Tall women, women with deep voices, athletic builds etc will be challenged.

I will point out til I'm blue in the face that, by their own definitions, none of these transphobes know what their sex is.

Have they had hormone panels? Genetic screens? Thorough internal investigations for stray gonads?

Of course not - they just feel their gender identity like anyone else.

Yep. They're actively harming womens rights- trans or not. Women are now ruled as being defined by their bodies before they're defined as people- they've voted for literal objectification of women.

As someone with very big feet and a naturally deeper voice, visiting a public loo has got more scary, not less with this judgement

The UK Supreme Court judgement on what a women is appears to suggest that trans people cannot use single sex toilets but are discriminated against if there are no toilets set aside for their use.

So any place that doesn't have unisex loos needs to make some quickly.

The Supreme Court decision is frightening, and could have a number of unpleasant repercussions that will hurt the trans community most, but cis women will be affected, particularly if they are judged to be not particularly feminine.

I can't stand watching a TV chef writhing in delight at the delicious flavour of the food they have just shown the camera how to make. I'm sure this is a new thing.

I don't remember Fanny Craddock doing it.
