Just watched Weapons. Like all good horror, comes with comedy moments. Excellent story telling, lets the viewer work it all out without clunkingly obvious plot devices.

Look I'm not defending Wonderful Christmastime; I'm just saying it seems like it knows it's supposed to be a fun silly song, whereas Happy Xmas sounds like it was written by a 4th grader who takes himself way too seriously and used the first match out of the rhyming dictionary for every other line.

"Wonderful Christmastime" gets all the hate, but I think there's a strong argument to be made that "Happy Xmas (War is Over)" is actually the worse Beatles Christmas song.

The way people have started to speak about infidelity as a crime akin to physical or sexual abuse is wild. You can’t send the whole of France to jail.

Before getting into this year’s roundup, here are a few honorable mentions for movies that probably aren’t going to make a lot of best-of lists this year.

Road To Hell was one of those cassettes my dad had in the car that I’d always beg him to put on when we were on any sort of long car journey along with Dire Straits Money For Nothing and The Best Of Queen. RIP Chris Rea.

RIP Chris Rea Driving Home For Christmas was one of those Christmas anthems I seem to never get board of and made even the most hellish of Holiday commutes just that much more bearable.

Oy…just like Phyllis Schlafly. “Women are meant for traditional gender roles.” Meanwhile she had several Ivy League degrees including a JD and actively worked in politics and government.

Innocent people end up in our criminal courts.

Completely, terrifyingly innocent.

And all that stands between them and losing everything is a fair trial.

Politicians would do well to remember this when they tell us that justice is all about processing “criminals” swiftly.

So Rian Johnson has clearly decided he wants to make actual films again because Wake Up Dead Man is a gripping, suspenseful mystery that goes deep into themes of faith, guilt and forgiveness.
