Interest in generative linguistics, history of photography, biomedical research, astrophysics, history (1930s), art criticism, critical history ...

But really just an old fuddy-duddy occupying time with reading, photography, and travel.
No sooner than I get the MGB back on the road than another problem crops up: Brake lights don't turn off.

Took about 15 seconds to diagnose: The Lucas (usually the Prince of Darkness) literally split in two, allow the contacts to be closed, turning on the brake lights. This will be the 5th time.

They didn't just redact names of the innocent. They wiped 500 whole pages from the Epstein file. This is NOT transparency.

Over 500 pages in Epstein files were entirely blacked out, CBS News finds
The Justice Department released thousands of new photos and records on Jeffrey Epstein on Friday, but at least 550 pages in the documents are fully redacted.

Transparency isn't opaque.
Tapper: This is one of the documents the DOJ released. It’s 100 pages. It’s all black. That’s the transparency we’re getting.

A nice video, very informative.

And when oxygen finally appeared, it nearly wiped life out.

So, how did a gas we depend on today almost end life billions of years ago?

NEW: Right-wing figures are escalating their calls for violence to free Tina Peters — the Colorado election denier serving a nine-year prison sentence for her role in a voting system data breach — after Trump issued a legally unenforceable “full pardon” last week.

The Leader evidently doesn't know that a million is not a billion, and that a billion is not a trillion.
"As for the amount of money the program is expected to generate, the administration hasn’t offered details, but the president told reporters that, by his estimation, the program could generate '$50 trillion'..."

In an era in which the US has been eclipsed in most areas of science, the regime wants to cut 50% of its funding.
6 simple steps to reduce American leadership in science

1 - Lay off staff & rotators
2 - Try to reduce IDC
3 - Terminate & freeze grants
4 - Reduce programs & GRFP fellowships
5 - Propose a >50% FY26 budget cut
6 - Run merit review, without enough expert reviewers:
