Transit riders in Victoria, BC were asked what improvements they want. Here's what they said.

Frequency, reliability, directness.

One reason I left Twitter was because of the nonstop (in-) fighting between the centre/centre left and the left in housing circles. In an effort to build a bridge early on here, I’m going to talk about my experience, both lived, and as an academic/activist. To kick things off: zoning is racist.

Yes. I'm totally in favour of seeing how we can enable more family-sized units: single-stair, low/mid-rises legalized on more land, etc.

But the idea that small apartments are bad or don't help, or that we should just mandate larger apartments — I'm not comfortable with that.
I have very little patience for "studios and 1BRs are bad" takes. Basically evidence of low empathy or zero-sum thinking (*everyone* has people in their family+social circles who could benefit from more options and lower price for smaller units)

22) “the Canada Line is Under-built”

The Canada Line is not even half full to design capacity. Given recent outcomes the spirit of economy guiding Canada Line engineering is quite underrated

Nothing makes me pessimistic about the future of housing affordability in Montreal like hearing almost universally negative reactions to the idea of building tall buildings near metro stations.
