My 2025 Year in Review goes live for paid subscribers on Friday along with a BTS video on YouTube.

You are not thinking big enough about your brand partnerships.

I get most of my Atlanta news from Hoodanchorye and until I started following him I had no idea how many cars were driving into buildings

POV you're a youtuber but you travel a lot so you turn whatever's around into gear

Adding this - this is the data from just this week's Outpost report. 3 people joined this week thanks to the welcome flow and I can see exactly which email they joined from.
December 22, 2025 at 5:42 PM
When you upgrade, you get a separate welcome page where you can share why you joined and if someone sent you (at least 25% of new paid subscribers are referred by someone)

This gives me great info to write them back and properly direct new subscribers to what or who they're looking for
December 22, 2025 at 5:34 PM
The 4th welcome email heads off the hesitation of "but not another subscription" and includes the last discount offer

Sent 2 months post subscribe - not even really a welcome email just sits with the welcome flow
December 22, 2025 at 5:34 PM
The 3rd welcome email shares why other people join the paid subscription and includes a smaller discount offer (the offer goes down the longer you wait)

Sent 1 month after sign up (I might make this faster now that I'm sending more newsletters)
December 22, 2025 at 5:34 PM
The 2nd welcome email lays out the mission behind this work and includes the same discount offer

(Sent 5 days later bc they would have received 1-2 newsletters in that time)
December 22, 2025 at 5:34 PM
The first welcome email reiterates a lot of what's on the welcome page and includes the same discount offer.

This is where Outpost comes in. The rest of this flow is set up with their Autoresponder under "Welcome flow"
December 22, 2025 at 5:34 PM
Here's how mine works.

Subscribe to the newsletter -> See the welcome page

This page sets expectations about what you'll get via the newsletter AND makes a fast action discount offer. This is built-in to Ghost (inside your tier settings under Free)

I completely redid my welcome flow after interviewing Isaac Saul at Tangle. Isaac told me their welcome page + email series was their best converter. I wanted to see if it would work for me. It does.

If you've ever had to send an email you *really* didn't want to send, you should read Taiwo Adepetun's story in Revenue Rulebreaker today.

This is the second Substack publisher this week I’ve seen with hundreds of paid subscribers get 0 support from Substack in an important moment.

Can’t stress enough how incompetent this leadership is and what a mess it is for creators.
December 21, 2025 at 12:03 PM
I managed to be a full time creator this year, backed by 300 paid subscribers and 5 really excellent sponsors.

Most people don't think that's possible at my audience size, but turns out, it is.

Taiwo Adepetun was being underpaid as a graphic designer. She decided it it was time to change that. So, she sent an email to her main client.

Her story coming tomorrow: join.revenuerulebreaker.com

This post will be paywalled but newsletter readers will get a longer preview

Why should you pay creators? TikTokers are mad that creators are asking for money. They're also mad everyone is selling TikTok shop garbage.

If you want creators and creatives to make things meant FOR YOU, you need to open your mind to this model, even if you're not gonna open your wallet.

I really fucking hate the “we achieved this very impressive thing here’s three bullshit ways we got there that are so generic you cant do anything with them” fake build in public shit

Made it to the bougie Christmas market

This story got me from the second it hit my inbox. Taiwo Adepetun knows what it's like to be "overbooked, underpaid, and deeply afraid of asking for more."

One day she decided it was time to change this. So she wrote an email.

I'm writing my 2025 Year in Review. This is what I'm including right now. I looked at a lot of examples and I'm trying to get more serious about these reports, doing them every quarter and every year. It feels important for me and my subscribers who've invested their time and money in this project.
