Thinking of setting up an institution to accredit learning in academic disciplines that move human knowledge forward in a variety of directions rather than serve as a funnel for jobs. Not sure what to call it, though. Something that attests to the broad character of its scholarly endeavours.

Incredible.

Jack Posobiec references the earliest version of antifa -- the anti-fascists in the Weimar Republic who were opposed to the Nazi Party -- as the bad guys.

“Someone” cancelled my family’s flight out of the country at the last second.

We got our boarding passes. We checked our bags. Went through security. Then at our gate our reservation ‘disappeared.’

Virginia State Senate Dems just brought down fire and fury regarding the “Compact,” notifying the President and Rector that UVA would lose ALL STATE APPROPRIATIONS if it signs and cedes the University to “federal political control.” Notably, their letter directly restates points made here by @siva.

The “compact” for higher ed is an unserious document written by unserious people from a position of spectacular ignorance. No one should take it seriously. Sadly, my bosses are taking it seriously.

Pritzker: "It's unconscionable. This has never happened before. They're calling out troops onto the streets of a state that doesn't want them and they're not even telling us where they're gonna go, what they're gonna do. This hasn't happened I don't think since the Civil War."

So this is funny.
The administration just issued a rule slashing foreign agricultural worker wages. And to justify it, in a public filing, Trump's Labor Department alleges that Trump's immigration enforcement has devastated the Ag workforce and caused a "risk of supply shock-induced food shortages."
Trump Labor Department Says His Immigration Raids Are Causing a Food Crisis
In a filing in the Federal Register, the Labor Department argues there are “immediate dangers to the American food supply” due to a lack of migrant agricultural workers.

Meta’s new A.I.-generated video app, Vibes, launched last month to overwhelmingly negative reception. The “Hard Fork” co-hosts discussed why. "It’s essentially like TikTok, but if TikTok were populated just by little animated A.I.-generated shorts." nyti.ms/4ocx2LW
A quote from Kevin Roose, co-host of "Hard Fork": "I was not surprised to see Meta announcing a version of essentially a social network with no actual people on it. I think this is the direction that they’ve been moving for several years now."

I want to hear from a lawyer: what's the legal power of an NDA in the context of open records laws with local elected officials? Seems to me that contract law legally takes a back seat to local, state, and federal law. How can an NDA bind an elected official to not talking about public business?

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that all these data centers are going into communities that have been historically targeted for exploitation and have the least amount of civic power wielded by the people living there.

And yet there are still lefties saying (based on claims by Alphabet, Meta, etc.) the environmental damage is overblown. No, it's not. If anything it's underestimated. They're spending an order of magnitude more on power infrastructure than they ever have before.

And they're all fuckin secrets!!!!

I am once again asking why these data centers are all fucking SECRETS

"A controversial plan to build a 2.2-million-square-foot data center on farmland may still happen. A rural community... is looking to settle a lawsuit recently filed by a development firm working for an unidentified tech giant."

They're not just secrets they also get full local approval while being a secret to fucking lie about not building on the 2 acres of wetland they're now building on (with full state approval) and lie that they're not gonna burn thru a million gallons of diesel when they knowingly burn out the grid
criminalerin.bsky.social
Now Google says they need 497% more diesel tanks than they originally lied about needing and also they need 547% more diesel generators than they lied about needing and our city & county leaders are gonna pretend to think about it then say lol ok obviously sure

www.wane.com/top-stories/...
The proposal requests 179 generators onsite that will create about 528 megawatts of power, along with 179 storage tanks that will hold 1,074,000 gallons of diesel fuel.

The original request, approved in 2024, was for 36 generators and 36 tanks, which hold 6,000 gallons each of diesel fuel.
