"Good Old-Fashioned Korean Spirit works because it makes these long-ago events and the struggle for democracy feel personal — maybe that's why the contents have been so disturbing to book banners in the U.S."

It seems like it will go well with our research project looking at the history of our school, the land it is on, and who has been there over time.

Just replied there. I’m excited to read your book.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the wealthiest and most powerful companies are hemorrhaging money to invest in a technology whose only logical endgame is to get us to unlearn problem solving and working together.

So cool. I was just out back listening to two owls in different trees just beyond our yard. One in the yard to the west and one in a yard to the north. Then they each flew over our backyard one at a time. One to the south and one southeast so I got to see them from below. 😊 🦉

I made the chicken along with the ginger rice and a coleslaw with the Japanese sesame dressing for a full yummy meal tonight! The local Korean market even had the tonkatsu sauce so we had the full experience. 😊 I did the breading process out of order 🤦‍♀️, but luckily it still worked. 🤣

To book creators: Don't get discouraged by poor reviews. 1st review I rec'd for 1st #KidLit book I illustrated, written by the brilliant @michaelianblack.bsky.social, ended with "Ironically, boring."

It still sells well & I'm still getting royalty checks 13 yrs later.

I love finding bits of wisdom in novels like, “You waste more energy fighting the sad than sitting with it” from Sisters in the Wind by Angeline Boulley. As often happens, I then saw “When life disappoints, rest a moment” which fits nicely with it in a nonfiction book by Haemin Sunim. #booksky

We had bagged milk in WI too. The top of the pitcher had a little slot for slightly twisting the bag and sliding it in to seal it. I had forgotten that was a thing now that we’re in CA.

I love to watch silly rom-coms, but the scenes that are really hard to take are when the love interest makes food and someone else chokes it down while they smile. Who cooks something and doesn’t taste it? Who does that? 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

These free webinars are awesome. I went to most of them last year and am excited to see a fabulous lineup once again. Debbie started off this school year with a great webinar that helped fill my shopping cart with excellent books.
