Watching queer fanfic smut go mainstream thanks to #HeatedRivalry is so funny because I keep seeing new audiences complaining that one or two lines of dialogue sound tropey or cliche, as if the whole entire narrative isn't just 3,852 cliches in a trench coat, meanwhile I'm over here like:
