Yes, the GOP controls Congress. That's why it's key to show Congress COULD stop the madness. And it's not just the DHS bill. Congress could repeal the prior multi-year $75b for DHS; set up a special investigative committee (cf. Watergate); amend the Insurrection Act; etc.

In October, ICE grabbed Maher Tarabishi.
He was a 24/7 caregiver for his disabled son Wael.
At the time of Maher’s detention, disability advocates warned that taking away Wael’s caregiver put his life at risk.
Wael died on Friday at age 30.
ICE caused his death.
They didn’t get to say goodbye.

Purple Finches at the feeder, traveling with a flock of Pine Siskins. A skunk has emerged from hibernation and sprayed the woods with a blast of musk. I breathe the stink in and cough it out—an attempt to purge myself of this dry, sick political air—a viral load of barbed and infected words.
