We ran the campaign three times. "Trump is uniquely bad for America and democracy," was the message in 2016 and 2020. It was a losing message in 2016. And I don't think repeating the message in 2020 was the main reason Biden won.

Congressional Democrats were still hanging with their Republican lunch buddies in 21-24. They didn't acknowledge how far gone the Republican Party was. They've all done an awful job defending multiracial democracy.

I disagree. Republicans do a great job sustaining alarm 24/7. Political media does as well, as they put Joe Biden's age front-and-center for years. People are choosing not to sustain alarm towards Republicans.

It is becoming very clear, on my walks around this neighborhood that I have lived in for only 11 months, that people here do it the fuck UP for Halloween, and I am starting to get a real complex about whether or not I’m going to get run out of here if I only invest in the good candy.

A house with a beautiful red maple and an absolutely enormous Halloween display. Pumpkin headed ghouls, huge black cats, giant jack-o’-lanterns, mostly inflatable and all life-size or larger.

Biden's mental decline amounted to him saying more gaffes.

Trump was literally senile on the campaign trail. And he was trying to finish up his white-supremacist coup.

Only the former was treated as a national crisis.

I keep going back to this, but one of the reasons South Korea has an incredibly effective protest culture is because they have *decades* of organizational experience through daily/weekly protesting. it helps a lot to do the routine stuff to be able to pull off the big stuff.

Why doesn't the US have a general strike? Well you can point to culture or whatever but I think structure is of not immediate use here: does the US have organizations and institutions it can use to network, organize and mobilize a general strike? No.
