This past year has been so stressful, I might not make it to 100 books. I guess I'm okay with that. But I do like to have goals. So I keep track, and it is so satisfying to reach them!
I also find if I am too stressed or tired to tackle classics, reaching for a golden age mystery is a good balm.

😅 I mean, I guess i am glad of that? The security features are off the charts. And he was not sitting with me. So if I were to try again, I would have to have him sit there the whole time. And that's just not happening.

Luckily they walked it back. But really, the amount of time this regime is spending on hateful things, when they could just be actually helping people, or moving things forward? Smh

Exactly. I live on land of the Dakota, and I am constantly reminded of atrocities and inequality. And I should be. But I had never heard of this campaign by Washington to wipe out the Seneca & others. They didn't teach us that in school. They taught us about the Iroquois. But not how it ended.

As if that wasn't bad enough. It makes me sick. I feel like this whole land is tainted. How can there be that much pain and suffering, over such a relatively short period of time, and it not leave a mark? The energy remains. And the energy is bad.
We have been fighting this for 250 years.

I knew about most of this already, though not in such detail. I knew about the great Iroquois state. I did not know about the alliance of 6 states. I knew about horrendous atrocities that occurred in MN and west. But didn't know that much about what happened in the east, beyond the Trail of Tears.

I was looking forward to this in a purely patriotic frame of mind. I thought it was good timing to be reminded of what we went through to create a great country, and that it was worth trying to save.
But now I am reminded of all the suffering that occurred, and the innocent bloodshed. And greed.

And someone in that dept thought this was worth spending time on. This was the most important thing for them to do that day. This was so important that they drafted a document about it.
So full of hate.
