It's profoundly different to cover a U.S. president than state or local officials, and too, much harder to vent publicly if you're female. But if in my reporting days, if anyone from a police sergeant to the mayor of Baltimore told me, "Quiet, piggy," I'd immediately insist he go fuck himself.

Every day, a fresh, astounding obscenity from the trash that we elected to govern our nation and the filth that they've gathered around them to enjoy power. Every fucking day,.

At the onset of a career in journalism, I was taught a hard rule that one should never put himself in the story: You are the teller, not the tale.

Editors told us the rule prioritized the subject of our work. Olivia Nuzzi makes it plain we were being protected from showing the world our assholes.

Though your mom would.

An hour now, @amtrak.com.
Really, I'd just like to review the process by which you failed to deliver two minors to the station where their pickups were waiting for them, and then threatened not to release one of the kids at the next station because your own paperwork was incorrect. I'll be friendly.
@amtrak.com: No wish to prejudge the sincerity of your response to your personnel depositing at the wrong station a minor traveling with all required paperwork/route contacts provided in advance. But now, on hold for 40 minutes waiting to talk to a human, I begin to fear you might not give a fuck.

And call in from pay phones only.
Sweetheart, get me rewrite.

We will need pay phones, I suppose.
We should reboot journalism completely. Start from scratch. They should get those old timey hats and a pencil and figure it out from there

Well played. We see what you did there.
First off, my suspension has ended. Got a little harsh with a post a few days ago but I didn’t have my feet on the ground and I’m sorry if I offended anyone. Will try to be more chipper. Knock on wood!

Yes, you wish to abolish the police. You have said so in this thread. Not defund or delegitimize its worst policies, but abolish. Your words.

In Baltimore in the last two and a half years, police and prosecutorial work has doubled the number of defendants charged with shootings and gun crimes...

...as well, and while the results of such programming aren't as definitively empirical as the stats on prosecution of repeat violent offenders and the murder rate, I would not discredit or discourage those programs in any way. But anyone still out here still pretending policework doesn't matter...

...or worse, that it is a negative antagonism against communities that will otherwise magically become self-policing once organized law enforcement is vanquished is just a sloganeering submoron. And in terms of actual reform, your kind will not move the needle except in the wrong direction.

Yeah, my messaging is devoid of any critique of police excess or mission failure, with a clear admiration for the drug war, police violence and corruption. The Corner, The Wire and We Own This City are there to Back the Blue. My evil output aside, Defund is still moronic and self-defeating rhetoric.

My country and much of the West is hurtling toward authoritarianism, ongoing wars of rank nationalism are ruining or ending the lives of millions and the planet is literally burning. But you give me $240 billion and I'd try to look on the bright side too.

Stop parsing this as if any of it isn't murderous horror. We have courts of law. And even if these cases were brought into those courts, our penalties for the trafficking of drugs are not summary execution.

Fuck what is "popular."
Trump implements a somewhat popular agenda, but without concern for the law.

One destroyed vessel apparently was a semi-submersible boat, likely not used for fishing or pleasure.

REGARDLESS, we should follow the law, detaining and charging, NOT MURDERING.

Who's next? The enemy within (us)?
Never mind every other single abominable or corrupt thing to this miserable moment, the extrajudicial and unevidenced execution of 34 human beings by the U.S. Navy on the orders of a U.S. President acting in peacetime is sufficient for his impeachment and conviction.

If we were a republic, I mean.
