Also, I'm all about fear-free knitting and not being intimidated by new skills, but it's a reality show. They have to generate stakes somehow. So even if I don't agree with it, I get why they're leaning into the cutting = scary angle.

The DRAMA. I'm going to ignore the "appropriation" bit since I had to watch GBBO contestants commit unspeakable crimes against avocados for "tackos," but steeking is 100% a widely understood term for cutting your knitting.

I had the same realization a many years when I was telling a friend that I’d spent my entire weekend invested in six different events (college football, NFL, NHL, a marathon, baseball, and F1). I just really love sports?????
