Just re-upping this again because the Temu Trumps in the LNP insist on bringing every culture war here: the Morrison govt spent $20.8bn on consultants in its final year - the equivalent of 54,000 FT public servants. The private sector benefits with govt cuts. No one else.

Can't be teaching the masses to think for themselves or recognise how current systems benefit those in power... This is a common theme with right of centre politics around the world atm 😡😢
It’s a dark day for research in Aotearoa New Zealand and the ramifications for the country are huge. Minister Judith Collins has just announced our blue-skies funder will no longer fund humanities & social science research and that 50% of what is funded must have economic benefit.

The biggest issue here is that MAGA's election denials (and the ridiculing of those denials) has now made it very difficult for anyone to question the validity of subsequent elections. This makes the whole democratic system even more susceptible to manipulation by those who know how to do it best.
I guess I’m gonna have to start blocking the Blue Maga election deniers here. Four years of that shit from MAGA world, not up for it from the people that are supposed to be sane.

A lot of what NIH does is fund basic research into public health that is not profitable for pharmaceutical companies to do. This is what you get with someone who does not believe in research.
