Just like the U.S. government can create concentration camps or bombs quickly but not safe housing for the unhoused or access to education, we have infinite money for AI slop that divides and dumbs down the population but not for creating wonderful communal art spaces. Funny how that works.

Imagine if we financed communal spaces where people from all walks of life could gather to appreciate art, to absorb objective reality (through books, paintings, movies, etc.) rather than algorithm-informed media meant to divide us all into our own little spaces and keep us in our apartments/homes.

Per a Cinemark employee who gave a lovely speech before my IMAX 70mm One Battle After Another screening yesterday, it cost $70,000 to make one IMAX 70mm projector.

It’s so annoying that we all have to just continually point out how rules around/between decorum and violation are applied asymmetrically to vulnerable groups versus the people who are always hassling them, and it’s extra insulting that the people in charge are trying to lol it away.
