It can be a struggle to explain the enormity of the federal funding freeze on biomedical research to the general public. Jane Smith-Rogers from Wired does a fantastic job of describing it clearly.

If you are not already boycotting Home Depot, here is another compelling reason why you should start now.
For folks asking if they've made it *inside* a Home Depot yet as the business has clearly just continued letting agents do whatever they want in their lots, the answer is yes. This is from yesterday in Evanston.

It’s outrageous that Sec. Kennedy is trying to fire the CDC Director — after only a few weeks on the job — for her commitment to public health & vaccines.

The Sen. HELP Committee must hold a hearing with Kennedy & the CDC Director as soon as possible.

Vaccines save lives. Period.

Senate FY26 markups for NIH are supposed to happen today. Make sure to give your Senator one last call and let them know the importance of fully funding the NIH.
If you've ever *benefitted* from NIH research (big population), CALL YOUR SENATOR now to let them know.

⏰ Tmrw morning, Senate appropriators will mark up NIH's FY26 budget.

Personal examples help.

My own case: decades of *sustained* investment in NIH-funded cancer research saved my life.
1/11 Though it's personal, I’m sharing this analogy if it helps others: In the last few weeks, I’ve been thinking a lot about my past journey with cancer.

Years ago, I found out in the worst way. My doctor accidentally released the biopsy results to my online patient portal.

Call these 14 senators.

Thank them for supporting #NIH.

Remind them that supporting NIH is meaningless if NIH cannot function.

This stay would:

1) Enable censorship of science.

2) Disrupt NIH’s ability to fund any research.
Right now, the continuation of many restored NIH grants relies on the SCOTUS shadow docket. SCOTUS is not immune to pressure.
Also, if you are represented by one of the 14 R senators that called for the restoration of NIH grants, please write them a thank you. Good behavior should be rewarded.
