FINALLY! I SOLVED AOC DAY 3 PART 2!! I did it!!!!! in quadratic time instead of exponential lol!!
(...5 days late but never mind that 🤫)
I felt so satisfied remembering "use-it-or-lose-it" two days ago until I realized that it *also* didn't scale with my solution
but anyway yippee!!

my day 2 advent of code solution feels super scuffed. is there a way to determine if a number is a repeating pattern without iterating over all of its possible substrings?
at least I skipped substrings that have a length that is not a multiple of the original number's length

trying out the advent of code again today... I got stuck last year and didn't finish them. trying it in rust this year because I really like rust and want to get better at it. spoiler: don't double count your zeroes like I did!

there are so many incredible people out there. its hard for me not to be self-conscious about it. but I'm trying to remind myself that it isn't *weird* not to be incredible. rather, social media exposes me to all the supremely skilled and talented people out there all the time.

just learned about www.shadertoy.com. shaders are powerful and beautiful, huh? its so cool that they are just rendering in real time. maybe I should learn how to make my own.
