Do we think he actually believes this? Is he that disconnected from reality? Or is this just bad faith lying? Or does he even know the difference?

Trump: "I don't know what could be worse than Portland. You don't even have stores anymore. They don't even put glass up. They put plywood on their windows."

Thank you. That's kind. Things have settled down for now.

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

It's bright, noisy, there is no privacy, not even a curtain but the staff carry on doing their best to keep things going. And this isn't a busy night. It's normal. And it's not winter yet. If we send all those home who came from elsewhere the NHS would fall apart

In our local A&E, as well as cubicles for triage, assessment bays, recus etc ther are 10 *labelled* "corridor" places where patients on trolleys who are waiting for a bed or further treatment are parked until a place can be found.

The last few days I have seen first hand the NHS struggling to meet needs.
Staff of all kinds of nationalities & skin tones at GPs, hospitals & ancillary services working hard and remaining cheerful in the face of overwhelming demand and awkward, sometimes rude patients

Why would anybody think taking away workers rights will win votes from anybody other than exploitative employers?
Or do workers not want rights?
Make it make sense

Kemi Badenoch says she will give a tax cut for private school fees and take away all the new workers rights brought in by Labour

Well yes but everything is monetised now

I don't understand the idea that there is no such thing as transferrable skills. There are. I've taught them.

She makes the point that we ban other things that are harmful for children, like alcohol. Why don’t we do it for social media?

NEW: A source very close to the senior leadership of MI6 has got in contact. They wanted to make public the opposition within the intelligence agency to the proscription of Palestine Action.
Senior figures are said to feel it is a distraction from the battle against real terrorist threat - and should never have happened.
The source has been verified.

Pardon my ignorance but if you cite a source aren't you generally supposed to have read the piece? Or has the whole article been generated by AI?

And here we go. I never wrote this article, and yet it is cited here.

And of course, it sounds so plausible, I seriously checked whether I had forgotten it, or the footnote was slightly wrong.

Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

You'd think if they've changed the criteria they'd have changed the message list. IT failure (or data failure)

They're oddly insistent on "the right order" which I can see for things like maths & science but I'm not convinced it applies to say art or humanities

Yeah. Not quite. I've had all the boosters recently, I think because I have Crohn's but they've reduced eligibility this time. I don't know if getting an invitation means I'm eligible or not
