My great grandmother painted for fun. I grew up with one of her paintings – a stand of pine trees weighted down with heavy snow. I’ve always loved that painting so I thought I would create my own version. I hope you enjoy the results!

Today's theme for #FolkyFriday is 'gifts'. There is an old tale of the wren bringing fire to mankind. In its quest to get the flame, it became scorched by the sun. All the other birds gave the wren the gift of a feather as thanks, apart from the owl who refused.

I feel like we've reached the weird phase of autumn. Too early for snowy winter landscapes but also not as colorful as it was a few weeks before. I tried to paint something encapturing that mood.
