I think the trump group in Washington is TRYING to tank the economy. Not sure why, but it could be to buy up assets for cheap to concentrate their wealth.

It seems this administration is destroying our institution in 4 areas.
1) tariffs destroying the economy
2) dismantling government services
3) creating fear through immigration abductions
4) erasing science and education
I wonder if it would be easier to have a shorter list like this.

Everyone--EVERYONE--in higher education has to understand that this is Trump's plan for you, too: federal control over scholarship, curricula, discipline, admissions--everything. They want you to submit. Your only other option is to stand up, together.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is how willing people are to acquiesce to their oppression. Like if you're censoring yourself in anticipation of censoring then you just did their work for them. Stop it. Especially if you can afford to. Each time we do that we build their castle for them.

I’m all for disruption of systems of oppression (the stated goal of musk/trump?) but this current disruption is hurting the most vulnerable (immigrants, children across the globe, trans folks, disabled people). This is the wrong way! Cruel and executed by inexperienced tech bros!

We need to be clear why a color-blind merit based culture is not what we have. There is ample data showing outcomes for the disabled, women, and POC are worse than for white men. We could blame the individual or groups (racism, sexism) or we could blame the system that is designed by those in power.

I’m thinking about change theory and we should never underestimate the power of structural changes (policies, laws, and even change to physical structures). Seems like this is the current tactic in Washington. The question now is how to make our own structural change. One idea: boycott Tesla.

I also want to emphasize: the informal tools we have at our disposal to address the threat Musk presents to this country are extremely viable. Musk's power derives almost entirely from Tesla, which is highly vulnerable to boycott, divestment, and sanctions of all kinds. We have to embrace that power

Musk/Trump are confused about the purpose of public institutions. They are meant to serve the people, thus “We the people.” On the other hand corporation are to serve shareholders by producing a return on capital. The current activity in Washington is not appropriate for government.
