I bought a small oil paint set about 3 months ago. Yesterday I finally I made a painting. Well I copied a painting by Sorolla. Best not wait another 3 months to practice with these 😉

Added in the shiny reflections and he is pretty much done. I'd like to touch up certain areas after resting for a bit, but I may as well show him off early.

This is "Regal", a male Australian blue swimmer crab that took nearly 250 hours to paint, spanning over 3 years

From yesterday's dog walk. A smoky sky and thunderstorms building up. Lightning didn't arrive until evening and doggo was supremely unbothered.

Still life sketch. The dental cast is a bit ick and I might replace with something cheerier if/when I repaint this in acrylics. Also make the box wonky to match the jam jar.
