If the cops arent there and they are actively opening fire - no one will ever judge you poorly for trying to save lives whilst risking your own. Of course official guidance will often be “dont do anything” because they cant advise untrained people intervene.
Ahmed al Ahmed’s actions almost certainly saved lives, but does bystander intervention go against official advice during mass violence events?
Intervene or run and hide: what should you do during public violence like the attacks at Bondi?

I started getting reports of an unseasonal Joshua tree bloom in the last few weeks, and looking over records on @inaturalist.bsky.social it's pretty widespread! So we're putting out the call for folks to record this "bonus bloom" and help us study it 🌿

Weird wet weather has Joshua trees flowering early — or late? Help the Yoder Lab map this “bonus bloom” to understand why

Julie cross - for shame. Trying to use this to support the media ban when footage is all over the TV
Kids can see stuff on most of the platforms without being logged in, just quietly

Zoe, imagine instead of banning teens we had instead actually made them responsible and made them not show this crap to teens… or you know anyone else? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
Social media makes many Australian teens feel worse about their bodies. Platforms must take responsibility | Zoe Daniel
Eight in 10 young people think the tech companies should do more to promote positive body image. The under-16s ban does nothing to achieve that

Anyone feel like their institutions have never recognized this?
Between starting as new faculty in 2018, then pandemic/online learning, then transition back to 'new normal', then AI proliferation, it's been 8 years of non-stop new prep/reimagining full course loads every semester, and just continually chasing moving targets. I love teaching, I'm just so tired.

If australians politicians was genuinely concerned for kids safety, they would ban them from going to churches until they were 16. No baptisms either.

Maximus was adopted from a shelter & like Larry, is upstaging the Prime Minister.

You know. This generation isnt that tech savvy compared with young gen x and older millenials who grew up installing windows from 20 CDs and setting up wifi from scratch instead of button push setup. So yeah. It will tesch them about VPNs and tunneling etc to get around it as explained by chatGPT

Scientists at Yale say long COVID is part of a “long-established family of post-acute infection syndromes.” The biggest challenge is understanding its “underlying pathobiology.” They were “surprised” how often children are affected, noting kids are also vulnerable to “long-term effects.”

The paramount second offer is just so laughable. Like its more than double their previous one… if they wanted it so badly why not offer more the first time instead of chucking a tanty when they announced the deal with netflix.

We thought my nephews cat (and son of my mums cat) was likely hit by a car or killed by a snake and gone as had been missing a couple of weeks. Today a shelter rang and there he was safe and sound. Best news ever

Ive had shingles 3 times. The second time i was off work for a week and weak for a week after that. I would love the vaccine but too young. May spend the $600 to get it if i make it a year without another flare
All over my FB people talking about their bad experiences with shingles vax and dissuading each other from getting it! We need to give people real info on how to mitigate the symtoms caused by vaccines because vaccines are always better than meeting a virus unprepared. Yet drs aren't coaching ppl

If this ban even works the age was always set too high. If you are old enough to have a job you are old enough for SM. 13 and under was the age to target. But good news. VPNs will have it sorted by xmas.
My disabled son is too old now to be stung by this ridiculous social media ban, but he lives on social media and relies on it for friendship, common interest discussions and much more. The young man in this article expresses the problems with this ban so clearly. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The gas policy mess results in:
- Giving away gas for free.
- Bad climate policy
- High domestic gas prices

A gas export tax would fix all 3 problems.

But this gov doesn't do big fixes, only band aids, so this week is just trying to deal with domestic prices.
