Doesn’t surprise me. On some wards nurses are not allowed to use their judgment as to when obs are required, but must do them ever 4 hours, even if the patient is medically fit, for example pre elective surgery.

I guess the theory is that patients go to sleep early in hospitals as they get woken at 6am. Which might be true if IVs weren’t given at eleven at night.

If you have any key concerns or questions, write them down. At the beginning of the appointment you can say “I’m sure that you will cover these points, but so I don’t forget…” and hand them the questions.
