That's the thing: I have a hard time seeing the status as a tool. It's unlikely to convince the folks using it as a dog whistle of anything, and on the progressive side, it's not meaningful - except potentially hurtful to Native Americans. Maybe I'm wrong! But I wince when I hear it.
