A photography of a recessed skylight in the pedestrian tunnel connecting South Kensington Tube Station to some Museums and Gallery spaces in London. The light itself is leaded and lozenge shaped and large. Also visible is brickwork and exposed reinforcement that forms part of the structure alongside tiling that is part of tunnel wall itself. Its recessed nature gives the photograph and the space itself contrast in terms of light and shadow. The blue sky is visible. I imagine this more pronounced still when originally constructed and commercial strip lighting not a thing. C.1907.

The same woodland from a different position. A photograph taken from a low angle of the woodland floor. Focusing on the beautiful green fern in shot but emphasising the height of the surrounding trees, growing not so densely that you can’t appreciate the grey dull sky beyond.

A negotiated photograph (no photography rule, IPL) of the main bathroom in the private quarters of Walmer Castle, Kent. Taken at an oblique angle it features principally a beautiful tiled wall, a sort of duck egg green but shining in the reflected light entering the space from a large window. Through which the brick of part of the castle interior wall can be seen. Also visible is a tower rail, a basin and a wall mounted cabinet. I liked how the window light plays on the tiles as if the window is leaded (divided into small panes) when in fact it isn’t at all - it’s the tiling itself creating this illusion. Sort of. A muted camel brown coloured curtain plays nicely colour wise against the whites and blue-green of the room. The property has historical significance, connection to Wellington and Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

A bird, possibly a raptor, in silhouette against an overcast but bright nonetheless sky. The clouds are varied in colour, from white through to darker rain producing equivalents. Along the very bottom of the photograph the tree line and an industrial low build are visible. It’s early afternoon on that brightening late November day at a local nature reserve in Kent. Notably there had been a reported sighting of a WTE. I don’t think this is it. More likely one of the many Cormorant or Marsh Harriers who reside or range the area.

I’m sorry you’re running a little low, great that you posted that dreamy photo from a prior month. I saw that you liked snow berries so hope this photo (also October) is a few seconds distraction. I only started to notice them in last years in spite of growing up as a country mouse.
A cluster of white snow berries on a bare twig, some plump and near their end, others barely formed.

In the background and mid ground are cars parked on the residential street and the terraced homes on the opposite side of the street. Two of the cars are scarlet in colour prompting the photographer to pause yet again because they simply couldn’t help themselves. It’s a rainy, grey day with water on the bin and path gate (wrought iron), giving the reds particular appeal. One day I’ll finish the day to day tasks in a sensible time frame but not today.

There are large trees partially visible on each bank and in the middle of the image a hanging rope and piece of wood that could be used to swing out across the river. It’s barely visible and might require a ‘zoom in’. The photo is taken on a bright autumn afternoon and the river has clear reflections of the trees in it alongside the blue sky. There is also visible a piece of kit I believe is there to measure flow, depth of the river which is in fact shallow and more stream.

Out of shot is a small river or stream separating these trees from the rest of the copse. The tones are dark and image was taken late after on an overcast day in Kent. It made me think about a severed hand, the way the roots protrude from the base of the trunk like fingers and how it’s clear that of vines and lighter in colour as a result than the surrounding trees. Bloodless.
