In light of the tiktik ban, I deleted all things Meta today. Really hoping to find some booktok/bookstagram friends here. Also, missing all things tarot related.

If you’re afraid that books might change someone’s thinking, you’re not afraid of books, you’re afraid of thinking.

This!
The 1/3 or so of the electorate who chose not to vote (they could be their own party) are just as responsible for what's coming as the people who voted for him.

If you’re looking for a free way to support an author, did you know you can ask your library to stock a book you want to read that they don’t have yet? And usually it’s a very basic online form? Google your library name plus the words “request a title” or “suggest a title” to find yours.

I have had family ask to see my kids and when I said sure, if you'll mask...they replied with, "But then they can't see my face." They never did mask or come. I guess my kids seeing their face was more important than them seeing the kids at all or making sure they don't get sick.
“I said I would provide masks …it didn’t matter. I was told that my stringent requirements were ridiculous & THEY deserved to have a normal & happy visit. That if I wouldn’t accommodate their idea of normal - they wouldn’t come.”

Imagine thinking wearing a mask for someone impedes your OWN joy:

I love violet so much! She is such a kind soul and a great role model.
Violet Affleck showing us all how it’s done. Wearing an N95 while assisting at a mission food service.

She has repeatedly pointed out that the least fortunate in society are the MOST at risk for COVID - and understands the importance of breaking chains of transmission.

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.
