The Dahiya Doctrine:
"“We will apply disproportionate force… and cause great damage and destruction,” Eisenkot told the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper. “From our standpoint, these are not civilian villages, they are military bases. This is not a recommendation. This is a plan.”"

The Dahiya doctrine and Hannibal directive are key to making sense of Israel's actions in Gaza over the past two years, and yet the BBC hasn't mentioned them once in its coverage since 7 October 2023....

As a person who twice barely avoided getting kidnapped and sent to conversion therapy by my own family members it is very disheartening to hear that conversion therapy is still being discussed. Last i checked the only thing it converts is living kids to dead ones.

"Ever thought about building houses on the estates of the rich? Can't they live in smaller houses?" maybe, but they really CAN'T live in close proximity to the common people! (We'd stare at them, pointing and laughing.)

"statistics used for these comparisons omit many major forms of income. Capital gains, hidden returns, rents, and asset price growth ... are poorly captured (or not captured at all) in the... measures... Failing to include those sources... hides part, if not most, of the true story of inequality."

Right-wing politicians are claiming that inequality is falling in the UK based on a tiny change in one national statistic. This is not the case in reality. Inequality is rising. In this post, I explain why and what we can and should do about it.

ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.
There's a huge BUT coming ...🧵

#Climate breakdown already having a massive impact on crop yields

By 2050, the world is projected to need 50% more food, at a time yields of key crops could be down 30%

More than a halving of calories per head

Just think about that for a moment

This is an appalling indictment of UK society in the early 21st century

A paradise for the rich, but a hell-hole for those at the bottom, who are left to fend for themselves or die

Utterly disgusting

UK deaths of 1,611 homeless people in 2024 is record high
Most are linked to suicide or drugs, with spice and nitazines increasingly deadly.

It would take the average UK earner 52 years’ worth of earnings to join the richest 10%.

Up from 38 years in 2006-08. Rich buy political influence.

Govts help the rich. Bottom 20% pay higher proportion of income in than the richest 20%.

Inequalities obstruct economic growth, fuel social unrest.
