Let's say we lose 100,000 people to drug OD's per year (last year it was 80,000). We won't have ANY drug deaths for 5 3/4 years.

If all this manufacturing is going to spring back into the US, who's going to fill those jobs? They're not all skilled manufacturing. Those jobs in Bangladesh and Vietnam pay pennies, because the products are low value. So Trump is increasing minimum wage jobs in the US? Swell.

So Trump wants to eliminate FEMA and turn over disaster response to the states.
That was the same strategy he promoted during COVID, and it left states competing for resources.
This seems to be Trump's main MO: if it's hard, turn it over to the states. It comes from incompetence.

The US should consider merging with Canada. They have 10 provinces and 3 territories, each of which could become a state. We'd have to negotiate for their health care system to be adopted throughout the US. I'm not sure what they'd want from us.
