Signed the contract this morning so very pleased to say that I have a story forthcoming with Cosmic Horror Monthly!

‘House Cats’ is a ghost story about geology and divorce. It’s very much inspired by the landscapes I grew up in. It’s also got quiiiite a lot of discussion about chalk.

In the September issue of @clarkesworld Four People I Need You to Kill Before the Dance Begins turned out to be extremely my jam. (That jam is shaped by falling in love with Evangelion and Majora's Mask at an impressionable age, so take it for what it's worth.) I'll be keeping an eye out for […]

It’s been an odd week. The practicalities of death, the brilliance of palliative care. My turn on the Great Universal Experience.

I took a pretty picture, though. Which was nice.

People in the UK say: first day of autumn!! :)

People in the US say:
An advert loosely affiliated with Jurassic Park that declares ‘The One-Armed Baryonyx Season has begun!’ and then a picture of a baryonyx (dinosaur) with a sort of mad robot arm. also its eyes are white like a thing possessed

what will you put on it? very little.

what will there be of visual interest? beats me.

will it allow you to finally be registered as the author of your works on Goodreads? theoretically.

ahh claire this has absolutely made my week!! it’s been six months and i am still thinking about Celestial Migrations A LOT. huge fan of your prose (and Abstraction/Attraction is such a delicious fusion of voice/world/character, proper immaculate story)

With all the traveling I've been doing this month, I've been lax in my marketing responsibilities and, as a result, we're down 13 over this time last month. So here I am, taking a very jet-lagged moment to remind you that each subscription makes a difference:

It’s looking like September (which has contained two weeks of illness) is going to be my first miss of 2025. Oh well. Sometimes you don’t get it done. Which is also okay.

I’m not a write every day person. Not sure I ever will be. I need time to think, and recharge.

I try to write a story every month. This year I’ve kept that up (even if one is a pretty shoddy, last-minute flash). I’d like to do more - I’d like to do a lot more. But one a month is tiring as it is.

“Four People I Need You to Kill Before the Dance Begins” by @louisinglishall.bsky.social may sound like it’ll be a typical revenge fantasy, but the worldbuilding, anti-colonial themes, and fascinating non-human leads make it stand out from the crowd clarkesworldmagazine.com/hall_09_25
