Even better: Columbo gets on the treadmill specifically to pretend he gives a shit about the guy's proto Planet Fitness workout plan, becoming a superfan who bugs the shit out of him with questions.

It's been sort of a "necessary evil" thing where it encourages people to get library cards/use other facets of their library, but with this AI policy it's tipped from useful drain on resources into just a drain on resources.

You couldn't do Taxi Driver today because a thousand people with rotted media literacy would see that ending and go "well obviously that's a dream" even though it's clearly literal.

This might be the normal-est Harvey Keitel has even been in a major motion picture.

The depressing reality is it used to be a passenger route. The Louisville & Nashville railroad even had an Amtrak route that could do Atlanta to Indy before it was closed in the 70s iirc

I kinda want to see a Pelham 1 2 3 remake in a Mamdani world. The original has an intentionally god-awful mayor who makes things worse. When pre-9/11 TV remake comes out, it never mentions the mayor, almost out of fear of Giuliani.

The 2009 version goes with a flawed-but-nice mayor.

Every adult character in Weapons is a flawed, shitty person in their own right. The events of Weapons happen in large part because none of the adults just suck it up, eat their vegetables, and do what they're supposed to.

Paul could've ended the entire movie if he'd followed the rulebook.
