“Dickens' Dream” was painted by Robert William Buss 5yrs after the great writer’s death in 1870, and shows CHARLES DICKENS surrounded by some of the characters he created.
The ethereal, ghostly nature of the piece is because sadly Buss didn’t live to complete the painting.
