At long last, @schumer.senate.gov, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, @kenmartin.bsky.social, @durbin.senate.gov, @governor.ca.gov—OPPOSE THIS with every lawsuit possible, immediately, or give power to braver Dems who will.

Breaking news: ICE stops family at gunpoint—smash car window on top of newborn baby.

"I was screaming that there was a baby. But they didn’t care," cried mother.

“I covered my baby with my body—I was so scared he was going to be hurt because glass was landing on him."
lovewinzalways.bsky.social
I mean—Durbin is basically stating outright "We won't let ourselves hit Trump on his biggest proven weakness, because it might damage us with Trump voters."

Does he even realize how ridiculous that is? It's a weakness because voters don't like it!

What is the rationale even from a centrist consultant viewpoint? Mentioning ICE might upset Haim Saban?

This right here is Trump's ultimate goal: staying in power

Pritzker: "He wants to militarize major cities because he wants us to get used to the idea of troops on the streets. I believe he's gonna post people outside of polling places and if he needs to in order to control those elections, he'll assume control of the ballot boxes & count the votes himself"

I’m not a political strategist or a social psychologist, but to me this seems true and important. Values must be activated. Surviving a real crisis takes real leadership.
Highlighted: “We've learned, hearteningly, that majorities seem to harbor a deep attachment to liberal rights and liberties, one that instinctively recoils at masked kidnappings, at hypermilitarized vehicles on urban boulevards, at the trappings of totalitarian dictatorship. But this must be activated. That takes conflict and controversy-powerful imagery and language that rivets attention.”

With all due respect (I've admired and spread your research/posts for years), your second sentence here threw me.

From an editorial view, you've got the comparison inverted. Strongly suggest you delete and repost as:

Well, 25K likes from wingnuts around the world, not just here—and from a ton of bots brought in by those wingnuts.

As a Jewish Dem, I get physically ill at the thought of this kind of thing causing inept Dem centrists to embrace Netanyahu harder, in the belief that it's somehow an antidote to all of this.

Several tried to get this information to anyone in the Harris campaign.

Sadly, the unresearched allegations of Stephen Spoonamore had already sucked the oxygen out of the room—resulting in a situation where nobody wanted to listen, even to an actionable confession to a hack.

Byrne phrases his account of what happened to sound slightly speculative, but here in an unrelated clip from a random far-right vlogger one day later, we find that to an unrelated third party, Byrne described the hack as rock-solid fact:

In regards to your June piece, "So, Kamala Harris May Have Won, Huh?"

On this podcast, only *one day* after the election Patrick Byrne, Michael Flynn, and other Team Trump insiders openly bragged about Elmo having hacked the vote the previous night (listen at 02:17:40): >

How culture is downstream from Homer Simpson—seriously, and how in a very specific way, our country's current political tragedy and the so-called "crisis of masculinity" are both indirect results.
I wish I were exaggerating.

I remember when the Simpsons, in its ninth season (1997), began to feature what fans called "jerkass Homer," a characterization of him that involved deliberately being a jerk for openly selfish reasons while rationalizing it with a childish glee that was funny just by being inappropriate. >

"There arguably is no comparable point in the history of this country — not even when Americans fought each other during the Civil War — when the very constitutional framework has been so close to succumbing to the authoritarian whims of a single official."

And it's not Trump or Vance; it's Miller.

This lines up neatly with Repub senators obeying Trump out of fear rather than agreement (below).

But it's quite obvious that Trump, Hegseth, Vance, and especially Miller are 100% high on power and, if given the opportunity, will never leave.
‘We are all afraid’: Murkowski says fear of retaliation from Trump administration is ‘real’
The senator said this week that she has been “just trying to listen as carefully as I can to what is happening."

"Non-state armed actors" explains Republicans' obedience to Trump much better than fear of being primaried does.

Murkowski laid it out clearly back in April (below) and most just called her a coward, which may be true of many centrists but— ignores how dangerous and lawless this regime actually is.

In the early 2010s, our society was evolving away from blind adoration of macho hubris. Then teenagers raised on fictional jerkass characters meant as parodic—like Tyler Durden, Eric Cartman, and Peter Griffin—hit adulthood and began voting such figures into power for fun. In this essay I will

"like a dog" = Trumpspeak for "in an embarrassing way."

I'm not a dog person—I've seen too many dogs trained to indiscriminately attack minorities and protesters—but DJT *hates* dogs, and I know dogs don't deserve that.

This is actually the first I've seen of one of the sons using the phrase...

That was my example above: Zaslav deliberately signalboosted Ezra Miller, the Flash star, after determining that he was an accused abuser—should be a far-right hit, huh?

No, Miller only tanked even harder...
