Hellooo #PortfolioDay!

I'm Luke, a level designer and writer. I've worked across FPS and RPG games, as well as game design for mobile content.

Currently open to new work and projects, so if you need an extra hand feel free to hit me up!

Two white and yellow characters look over a small encampment nestled in a rocky canyon. Tents, wooden structures, and campfires are surrounded by high palisade walls. Screenshot of a level blockout from Halo Infinite Forge. A Spartan sprints forward with trailing blue lines, a small encampment with alien enemies facing them, and a tower structure behind with tall columns, partially destroyed. A circular circus arena with vibrant colours, the central ring dotted with crates, pillars and balloons. At its very centre is a circular podium. Screenshot from Halo Infinite Forge. A first-person perspective of a dimly lit room, the entrance door barricaded with planks, and a messy desk in the background. An overturned table has two slumped, armoured figures pushed against it.

1000%, I think it sensed my fear because it's immediately broken in another section 10 minutes later 😭

Punching in some test code and having it work first try is definitely reason to take the rest of the day off and sip on margaritas in celebration, yes?

Trying to catch up and get started on #blocktober projects, but still tied up with work so here's just a little blockout progress for my Halo x Dark Souls level I've been chipping away at.

(Hopefully will be finished at a playable/testable state this weekend 🤞)
Screenshot of a blockout from Halo Infinite's forge editor, showing buildings blocked out in grey, a small plains, and rising towers. Screenshot of a blockout from Halo Infinite's forge editor. Larger towers have been added and a dominating wall enclosing a city section, a rough blocky cathedral at its peak. Screenshot of a blockout from Halo Infinite's forge editor. A winding cavern area has been added to the start of the level, emerging into large room that enters the rest of the level. Screenshot of a blockout from Halo Infinite's forge editor. The areas are more filled out and colour added to the plains. A large, empty tower has been added of to the side, and tight rooms connected with rooms sits behind the central mass of buildings.

As much as I love conferences and connecting with awesome people, sometimes the best moment is getting home, getting in trackies, cracking a beer and watching some Age of Empires replays 😴

Also Jim's voice lines absolutely wipe me out every single time, that man can't keep quiet for the life of him 😂

Started working through some more of the sideline Resident Evil games, and Outbreak is so damn good????

I was fully expecting a weird gimmicky game, but the exploration and the contained puzzles are so much fun, and the NPC companions feel like they have so much life to them.

Going live with a little level design in Halo forge today. Not feeling like dealing with big scripts, so going to just mess around recreating an old map :))

i see people lamenting that new AAA games use megascans or stock assets

meanwhile the old games they praise are full of stock photos and stock sounds

it has always been the same

I think this might be one of the best yet. The collection of this music is so wildly good, and it all fits Resident Evil so damn perfectly 😭😭

Jumping back into Blender to do some level modding, and realising it's been a hot minute since I've been here. Time to revisit ol' faithful.

When I say Tea crushed the soundtrack for this jam, I mean he CRUSHED it.

This past April I worked on my first game jam, and the soundtrack I wrote in roughly two weeks is finally released! It was my first time composing for a medieval/Renaissance setting.

Thank you to @marinahascoffee.bsky.social for mastering it, all the songs sound so good! Full OST in the replies! 👇

Tim Horton taking over the universe is definitely a canon event.

'The year is 2348. Humanity has solved wormhole travel, a fifth plane of reality was discovered, and Tim Horton's has besieged Neptune again. I have added dynamic fake walls to my level.'

Halo adding scripting into their forge editor is a true monkey paw. I've been blessed with unlimited potential power, but now I get distracted every 5 seconds by a new shiny possible feature I can add
Rick and Morty screenshot, Rick motioning to a portal labelled 'Halo x Dark Souls Level' saying "Let's go. In and out. 20 minute adventure."

A second screenshot with Rick and Morty crying in the cark, labelled '6 months later creating custom error ID spreadsheets'.

"ChatGPT is great for brainstorming!"

Actually we have a tool for that already! It's called thinking. We use our brain. It's called brainstorming! Clue is in the name.

The future of the games industry isn’t indies: it’s each other. Connect with your fellow workers. Build solidarity. Unionize.

And trust, too. So much trust. Whether you’re laid off or spared, you lose all trust in this industry and its leadership.
