Slurs And Insults And Things In Between
There was a BlueSky post recently where someone pointed out that a rather shocking number of people do not understand the difference between an insult and a slur, and when I saw that, I thought about how I have witnessed people use language, especially people like myself who are definitely not in any traditionally marginalized group, if you will, and it dawned on me that this is actually a depressingly accurate assessment, that many people don't see much of a difference if any between the two when they are, in fact , quite different in many respects.

We do need to have a discussion on why we talk about this like it is just another issue in the sense of inflation or immigration and not something where a lot of evil people need to be placed in a jail that then sinks into the ocean.

Boy, if I were Donald Trump, I’d be pissed that my supposedly loyal Vice President has gone completely and totally silent on social media since these Epstein emails dropped. Vance always does this when it gets really bad—just disappears. Like Homer in the hedges.

You have to know someone to make such judgments, or at least well enough that you believe you have a handle on who they are. Trump won't try to reconcile the judgment made here with his previous statements, but if he were able to act rationally, now would be the time, you would think.

Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????
