So we were sold the idea that analog paper stuff are so passé to sell us gadgets and computers. And then many years later, analog is sold back to us at exorbitant costs because it's "novel" at a digitalized age.

I love getting bottled inks for my fountain pens. So I accumulated them bit by bit. It's also a bit of making sure I don't run out of inks to use. And wow...

I’ve polled 40 students at my liberal arts college in the Pacific Northwest. 60% report that they avoid AI chat bots like the plague. 75% report having a generally or strongly negative opinion about how AI will impact the future.
My students, who attend a working-class rust-belt college, openly talk abt how much they hate AI & are afraid of its consequences. I wonder how much of the oft-reported student enthusiasm for the tech is the merely result of the NYT’s Ivy League bias

The more I see the Humanities in the Academe embrace el-el-ems in their school requirements, the more I find myself disheartened. The best way for Silicon Valley to legitimize their narrative is by getting the Academe to propagate it to students, because they are the future workforce. (1/2)

Slowly putting something together now because it’s come to me that using generative AI naively (especially as a tool) is directly harmful to Maslow’s self-actualization — I think that is a closely related point.

That "requiring age assurance" clause on the updated policy seems to hint at having to send more personal info to this website than I am comfortable with. 🤨
I know UK has to something to do with that clause. But being part of the Western world, this could cascade to other countries eventually.

My first hand-painted fountain pen commission was a Smiski + Matcha fountain pen. It was a nerve-wrecking experience considering I didn't want to mess it up. I made sure that the coating was thin enough that the cap can still be posted but still protect the painting underneath.
