@rollovereasy.bsky.social I’m curious what Chris thinks of the SF Bay Area Bench Collective’s recent installation of Duderstadt-inspired benches at Muni stops, and what he would think of a potential official permitting process for community members to install benches at Muni stops around the city.

Thanks for sharing! So nothing specific or more recent than that announcement from last year's Go–Get?

Thanks for sharing, John! Do you have a source for the commercial vehicles aspect of this announcement/service?

San Francisco's Vision Zero efforts—to eliminate roadway fatalities and severe injuries—have failed because the City hasn't focused on making it safer and faster to walk, bike, and take public transit, which would help people shift trips from cars to walking, biking, and transit.

Thanks, Andrew! It took longer and caused more stress than it should have, but it was worth it for the end result—I'm glad this section of Valencia now has curbside bikeways. Now, time to finish the job for south of 23rd 👏

Great question and point! Yes, there will be plastic soft-hit posts in the “buffer” between the bikeway and driving lanes. Full design at www.sfmta.com/media/41021/....

There should be concrete separating the bikeway—and protecting people on bikes—but this is all the City was willing to do for now.
